Despite the cold and wet weather, over 300 runners made their way to the second annual Live in Colour five kilometre run over the weekend.

The event raised more than $9000 for the NorthWest College scholarship fund.

鈥淲e have a special fund called Choose Your NWC, and it鈥檚 strictly entrance average,鈥 said Dr. Victoria Drover, manager of corporate services for NorthWest College.

鈥淭his year, because of the colour run last year, any student who had an above 60 per cent average coming into NorthWest College had some funding through the scholarship fund. Even if it鈥檚 $200 or $500, it makes a difference.鈥

Runners were given a colourful chalk pack upon registration and were able to douse themselves in an array of colours before the race began. At every mile marker along the way, volunteers from NorthWest College showered runners with more chalk, making for an impressive running uniform.

Drover was more than satisfied with the way the race turned out and how the people of the Battlefords backed their college.

鈥淲e are embraced by our region. It鈥檚 wonderful to see people here to support students, and students who are going to get trained and come out into this community. We鈥檙e supporting our own right here at home,鈥 Drover said.
