The Battlefords AAA Stars split a couple of weekend games in league action.
Friday night, the team headed to Credit Union iPlex to face the Swift Current Legionnaires, and won in overtime 4-3.
It was Kyle Heintz who scored first for the Stars to tie things up, and then Vaughn Watterodt scored late in the period to tie it again at 2-2.
Jake Â鶹ÊÓƵgate’s shorthanded goal gave the Stars the lead before Maguire Scheidt tied it for Swift Current. The game winner came with 3:21 remaining in overtime as Tanner Willick scored from Jake Â鶹ÊÓƵgate for the 4-3 final score.
The Sunday game back at the Civic Centre was one to forget, though, as the Stars lost 10-4 to the Saskatoon Blazers.
The Stars got off to a good start with three straight goals from Liam McInnis (on the power play), Noah Schindel and Heintz, but then the Blazers responded with seven unanswered goals before Heintz responded in the third period. The Blazers then filled the Stars net with three more goals for the win.
The Stars play again Tuesday against the Saskatoon Contacts at the Civic Centre. Â
