HUMBOLDT — Construction work on Highway 5 will be disrupting traffic in Humboldt for around two weeks starting next Monday.
On Monday, July 5, there will be construction on a water main replacement between Fourth Street and Seventh Street.
For the first two days, July 5 and July 6, only the eastbound lane will be closed.
A detour will be set up. Those heading eastbound will have to turn south onto Main Street, then east on Fifth Avenue. As motorists follow the road, it will turn north and become Second Street. From there, motorists can continue eastward on the highway.
Starting on July 7, the entire highway will be closed until July 16. The detour route will be used in both directions.
The city said it will provide updates as construction continues.
