MELFORT β The City of Melfort has passed their budget with a mill rate increase of .18 to 10.30 and an average property tax increase of 1.8 per cent.
Residential property owners with a taxable assessment of 200,000 will have an increase of $44.60 or 1.8 per cent. Commercial property with a taxable assessment of 250,000 will have an increase of $89.60 or 1.82 per cent.
A total of $150,000 of the 2020 surplus is being utilized to balance the 2021 budget, with $73,525 from the mill rate stabilization reserve being prepared to be drawn if necessary.
βI think it went really well,β said Glenn George, Melfortβs mayor. βWe have a rainy day fund, we used it, we tried to keep the taxes as absolutely low as we could and this is the best we could do.β
Budgeted water line work includes Broadway ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅, McKendry Avenue East, looping of Frost Drive, Charles Street, as well as Shadd Drive into sections.
