A fire ban has been placed over the province's Crown lands and provincial parks.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency issued the ban on July 2 due to hot, dry conditions and an extreme fire risk that covers most of the province.

The ban includes any open fires, controlled burns and fireworks.

According to the agency, there are 17 active wildfires in the province. All are in the north.

Anyone who spots a wildfire can call 1-800-667-9660, dial 9-1-1 or contact their closest SPSA Forest Protection Area office.
