Town of Battleford staff celebrated at SUMA convention

Five earn the Meritorious Service Award honouring long service.

A combined 173 years of public service to the Town of Battlefords was acknowledged during the recent SUMA convention.

BATTLEFORD — At the recent 2025 Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) convention, several staff members from the Town of Battleford were honoured with awards celebrating their service.

Five individuals received the Meritorious Service Award, a recognition bestowed upon staff members who have devoted more than two decades of their careers to serving the community.

Fire Chief Larry Gabruch has dedicated 41 years to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.

Bernadette Leslie, the manager of the Fred Light Museum, has provided 42 years of commitment to preserving and promoting the town’s rich history.

Eric Bilanski, who serves as the public works manager, has contributed 31 years to maintaining and improving the town’s infrastructure.

 Les Herle, who works as a public works grader operator, has offered 28 years of service.

Noreen Hoffart, the town’s executive assistant, has devoted 32 years of her professional life to supporting the operations of the town’s administration.
