NORTH BATTLEFORD – A local resident says she’s fed up with the violence plaguing the city after capturing two disturbing incidents on video.

The resident, whose identity Â鶹ÊÓƵ is withholding for safety reasons, shared footage of a vehicle speeding away as a gunshot rings out, as well as a separate clip showing a group swarming and beating an individual before a taxi strikes a person while fleeing.

“I’m just tired of it,” the person said. “The things I see are disgusting. These people just need to be stopped.”

She said many violent acts go unreported to the public.

“Both videos I sent you will never be given to the public and I promise you no one knows about it but they both happened and I have the video.”

Â鶹ÊÓƵ provided the videos to Saskatchewan RCMP, who confirmed the incidents.

One incident occurred on June 2, around 3:30 a.m. when Battlefords RCMP responded to reports of a gunshot on 107 Street. No injuries were found but the investigation remains open.

Another incident happened on April 1, at approximately 8:20 p.m., when police were called to an altercation on the 1100 block of Territorial Drive. Officers found several men in the vicinity, with one taken to hospital. Police later learned from hospital staff. that another man involved was already in their care receiving treatment.

Investigators determined an adult male driving a cab picked up a group of adult males. The adult males attempted to rob the driver and assaulted him. The driver stopped the vehicle in the street and got out. An altercation ensued. The driver was able to get back into his vehicle and left the scene, striking one of the males with the vehicle in the process. The driver brought himself to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

RCMP said a 19-year-old male and a 20-year-old male – both from Battlefords – were arrested at the scene and each charged with assault. The driver of the cab has not been charged.
