Yorkton’s Relay for Life event – held over the weekend – was a big success for the Canadian Cancer Society again this year, with 22 teams and over 250 participants raising $106,000 for cancer research. The relay is all about helping more people survive and thrive after cancer, and to celebrate the fact that over 65 survivors took part in the victory lap which opened the event. Cancer survivors also spoke about their experiences, including Luke Boechler, seven-time survivor Dionne Warner, and seven year-old Paige Hanson (inset photo). Janet Sharpe with the Canadian Cancer Society thanks everyone for their support, and encourages residents to get ready for next year’s relay.
