Celebrations for the 100th instalment of the Canadian Football League championship came to Yorkton last Tuesday afternoon as football fanatics, both young and old, got together for some football, food and fun. Back (L-R): Carley Smith, communications representative for the CFL and James Wilson, Yorkton mayor, holding “Alouette II” in honour of a ceremony in 1954 when then-Mayor C.G. Langrill presented the champion Edmonton Eskimos with a pig, “Alouette,” for “bringing home the bacon.” Front, Lydia Zimmer, a 104-year-old fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Wilma Wilkinson, daughter of Langrill.
