Stephen (Steve) Yoner 1926 - 2013 Steve Yoner passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan, Sask. on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the age of 87 with his wife at his side. Steve was born February 27, 1926 to Annie Mae and Peter Yoner.

Stephen (Steve) Yoner 1926 - 2013 Steve Yoner passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan, Sask. on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the age of 87 with his wife at his side. Steve was born February 27, 1926 to Annie Mae and Peter Yoner. He received his education at Brown school. For a short time he worked on a dairy farm and later worked up north in a lumber camp. He later returned to help his father with the farm. Steve met Dorothy, the love of his life, while she was teaching at Brown School. While courting Dorothy he worked on the highway crew near Moose Jaw. They were married in Regina November 16, 1951 and started farming in the Midale district. While farming Steve also worked as a telephone lineman. He was active in the community as a volunteer on the construction of the Midale Skating Rink, an employee and then a director of the Midale Coop, and also a director of the Floding Telephone Company. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Steve enjoyed woodworking, gardening and working the land. No weeds were allowed in Steve's garden. The bird feeders were kept full and he enjoyed the wonders of nature every day. Friends and family enjoyed Steve's jokes, sense of humor and a good game of cards. Steve faced many health challenges but he never complained. He tried to live life to the fullest. Steve is survived by his wife Dorothy Yoner of Estevan; siblings, Peter Yoner (Arlette Sabin) of Estevan, Andrew (Helen) Yoner of Lloydminster, SK, Vincent Yoner (Lynda) of Pitt Meadows, B.C., Nick (Eva) Yoner of Fort Qu'Appelle, SK, Cecilia Briltz of Fort St. John, B.C. and Caroline Leptich of Estevan; sisters-in-law, Elda (Clifford) Leonard of Estevan and Amelia Yoner of Lang, SK, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Annie May Yoner; brothers, Norman Yoner, John Yoner and Matt (Eva, Madeline) Yoner; sister Clara Yoner; brothers-in-law, Tony Briltz, George Alexander, Mike Leptich and Harry (Ruth) Floding; nephews, Michael Yoner and Christopher Leonard and niece Annabelle Haakonson. A Memorial Service for Steve was held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Estevan, with Pastor Stewart Miller officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. Thank You Thank you to the staff of the dialysis unit, nurses on the second floor and the doctors at St. Joseph's Hospital. Thank you to the Trinity Lutheran Church ladies for providing the lunch. To Dustin Hall of Hall Funeral Services for the compassion and helpful manner in handling the funeral arrangements. To Pastor Stewart, thank you for the thoughtful service and especially for being with Dorothy at Steve's bed-side. Thank you to family and friends for your expression of condolences, gifts of food and moral support. Thank you to the quartet for their vocal presentation and also the pianist. Last but not least a special thanks to Steve's nephews, Jerome and Alroy for driving Steve to his many appointments and dialysis treatments, as well as any other assistance they required.God bless.
