Raymond Joseph Gustav Marchand April 19, 1927 - January 5, 2014 It is with saddened hearts that the family of Ray Marchand, late of Ste. Anne, MB and formerly of Estevan, SK announce that he passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Ray's memory will be forever cherished by his wife Irene, of Ste. Anne, MB and his children, Derald (Michelle) Marchand of Torquay, SK, Randy (Sheila) Marchand of Bienfait, SK, Margo Hammett of Bienfait, SK, Joyce (Jim) Halladay of Estevan, Jocelyn (Stanley) Weinrauch of Estevan and Michelle (Jack Betke) of Saskatoon, SK; step sons, Mike (Gayleen) Manaigre of Winnipeg, MB, and Dan (Tammy) Manaigre of Ste. Anne; 21 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Ray is also survived by his brother Lou (Pat) Marchand; two sisters, Gaye Fenwick and Jen (Gordon) Kvammen; brothers-in-law, Jerome (Marge) Stepp, Ken (Lavine) Stepp and Arnold Felgate, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ray was predeceased by his first wife, Lenora Stepp (1973); parents, Edmond and Loretta; sisters, Erma Van Gundy and Evelyn Dukart; brothers-in-law, Marcus Dukart and Ross Fenwick; sister-in-law Margaret Felgate and son-in-law Garry Hammett. Ray was an entrepreneur having owned his own pool hall, barber shop, and restaurant in Torquay for many years; then buying and running a service station and restaurant in North Portal. He later went on to manage the Derrick Motor Hotel in Estevan for many years. Following this, he became the purchasing agent for Bienfait Coal in Bienfait. Ray loved to do woodworking and showed this talent in the 13 cedar chests that he made for all his granddaughters. Ray's most rewarding years were at the Lilac Resort, seeing it grow from a small campground to the renowned holiday destination that it has now become. When Ray finally decided that it was time to retire, he and his wife Irene bought a small place in Mesa, Arizona to spend their winters. There they met many new friends and along with these new friends and old friends had many memorable times. In keeping with Ray's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. Interment will take place at Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan, at a later date. Those wishing to make donations in Ray's memory may do so directly to the New Estevan Regional Nursing Home, 1201 - 2nd Street, Estevan SK, S4A 0M1. Ray's final arrangements were entrusted to LeClaire Brothers Funeral Home, Winnipeg and Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
