Yorkton Tribal Council Chief Gilbert Panipekeesick spoke at the National Aboriginal Day events which took place in the Parkland Room at the Painted Hand Casino. The events of the day “celebrate our cultures both native and non-native,” he said. He described the day as an important way to show friendship between different cultures to move forward. “When the leaders of the day signed the treaties with these newcomers it was based on this principle of sharing,” he said.Staff Photo by Chelsea Laskowski
