Lillian May Mantei (nee Cundall) April 13, 1921 - October 5, 2013 With heavy hearts and fond memories we announce the passing of our wonderful Lillian. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace. Lily passed away peacefully with Jim & Gail at her side on October 5, 2013 at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband, William Ernest Mantei (2006); son Robert Thomas Mantei (2007); brother Tom Cundall (2013); daughter-in-law Florence Mantei (2013); parents, Violet and George Cundall; mother and father-in-law Elizabeth & Edward Mantei; brothers-in-law Rudolph Mantei, Albert Mantei, Elmer Jensen, Henry Wingert, Frank Demeter, Archie Mantei, Kenn Beggs and William Konopaki; sisters-in-law Ella Jensen, Bertha Cundall and Lenora Konopaki. Celebrating a life "well-lived" and cherishing her memory are her daughter Gail (Jim) Sewell; Jim & Gail's children: Tanya (Andrew) Striha, Jennifer Sewell and Chad (Terri) Sewell; Robert & Florence's children: Glenn Mantei and Jordan (Amber) Mantei; Lillian's most precious great grandchildren Nicholas & Kaitlyn Striha, Sasha & Sierra Mantei and Ashlyn & Jaden Sewell; sister Joyce Beggs; Godchildren Robert Adams, Lois Schmegelsky, Lauralie Ireland, Wendy Aebig and Brenda Noble; sisters-in-law Margaret Wingert, Martha Mantei, Clara Demeter, Myrtle (Cliff) Finstad and Lois Mantei; brother-in-law Clarence (Esther) Mantei; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and so many good friends. The manner in which Lillian led her life exemplified love, compassion, kindness, generosity, friendship, courage, & grace. Lily's final gift was to help others who suffer from Parkinson's disease by donating her brain to the"Ali Rajput Endowment" with research being conducted by Dr. Rajput at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Our deepest gratitude to the staff & caregivers of the William Albert Personal Care Home in Emerald Park as they have been a true blessing the past 7 years of Lillian's life. Rather than staff they became "her extended family" providing support and love. Flowers most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations in Lillian's memory to St. Giles Anglican Church, 317 12th Avenue, Estevan, Sask., S4A 1E5 or the Royal University Hospital Foundation (designated to the "Rajput Parkinson Endowment"), Room 1626, 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon, Sask., S7N 0W8. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Estevan with The Rev. Mark Osborne officiating. Interment followed at Souris Valley Memorial Gardens. Prayers were held on Friday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. With Many Thanks We are so grateful to our family and friends for their prayers, uplifting messages, cards, tributes, food, flowers, donations in Lillian's name, hugs and especially the love during this difficult time. Special acknowledgement to the Care givers & friends at William Albert Care Home in Emerald Park who filled Mom's final days with compassion and immense kindness. The Rev. Mark Osborne, thank you for both the prayer and memorial service of Lillian's life which brought us great comfort. We are indebted to Dustin Hall and his compassionate staff at Hall Funeral Services for the great care and patient guidance given to Gail in planning a wonderful celebration. Heather Woodhouse, your attention to detail for the service pamphlet was so appreciated. Many thanks to Goddaughters, Lauralie Ireland and Brenda Noble, who read scripture that reminded us of God's promise of eternal life. To Margaret Duncan, pianist, and members of St. Giles Anglican Church who graciously prepared & served the luncheon we are so thankful. Friends and family travelled so far to join us and that touched our hearts. Thank you to the pallbearers: Lyle Cundall (Calgary), Ken Ireland (Estevan), Barry Mantei (High River), Jordan Mantei (Estevan), Chad Sewell (Saskatoon) and Andrew Striha (White City). Special thanks to Gail's sister-in-law, Lorna Sewell (Calgary), for the solos that warmed our souls and lifted our spirits. We are eternally grateful for the amazing support, and thank God for the incredible life of Lillian!
