Joan Marie Elizabeth Messer Jan. 23, 1953 - Dec. 10, 2013 Joan Messer, late of Macoun, SK passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Estevan, SK on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the age of 60 years. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Mary Strong; brother John Strong; nephew Greg Strong; brothers-in-law, Joseph Kwas and William Worona; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jacob and Francis Messer; sisters-in-law, Veronica Zentner and Dianna Issler. She is survived by her loving husband Wilfred; twin sisters, Rose Worona and her children, Gordon Worona and Patti Fisher (Dave) and their families, and Ann Skwarchuk (Mike) and her children, Joanne (Marc) Chorney and Don (Dianne) Kwas and their families; sisters-in-law Mae Strong and her son Patrick (Dianne) and family, and Audrey (Allen) Barreth; brothers-in-law, Delbert (Anita) Messer and Wayne (Verna) Messer and their families. Joan loved her pets. Many of them were rescued and/or adopted. Joan also loved gardening. At one time Joan had 60 different kinds of peonies and 400 different kinds of daylilies. Joan also loved to cook. She was an amazing cook and wasn't afraid to try different recipes or make something up. A Prayer Service was held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan, with Doug Third officiating. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan, by Rev. Brian Meredith. Cremation followed, with inurnment taking place at the Columbarium at the Estevan City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. A special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, Home Care staff and the Allan Blair Cancer clinic staff as well as thank you to Dr. Allison Christie and Mirjana Zarkovic for helping Joan with her struggle with cancer. A special thank you to neighbours and friends for being there for us in our time of need during Joan's struggle.
