It was a night of poetry at North Battleford city council Monday. Four Grade 5 students from Bready Elementary School read poems at the start of the meeting as part of the Mayor’s Poetry City Challenge. In honour of April being Poetry Month, Mayor Michael Fougere of Regina had issued the poetry challenge to cities across the country, and North Battleford took up the cause. The four poems the students had written and presented all had a theme celebrating the centennial of the city. In recognition, Mayor Ian Hamilton presented each of the children with the book, Reflections of North Battleford.
