Barnabas (Barney) Emil Styre February 8, 1927 - July 13, 2011 Barney Styre passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, Estevan, SK on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the age of 84 years. Barney will be lovingly remembered by his wife Verna Styre, Estevan; children, Michael (Valerie) Styre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Antoinette Styre, Estevan, Mary Styre, Estevan and John (Latiffa) Styre, Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Caitlin, Nikki and Lucas Styre, Winnipeg, Melissa (Chris) Deitz (and their children, Jacob, Gabrielle and Sophia) and Jocelyn Styre (Dustin Hall), all of Estevan, Jenapher Klein of Red Deer, Alberta and John Styre of Edmond, Oklahoma; sisters, Pauline (Nick) Kainer of Regina, Saskatchewan and Florence Styre of Toronto, Ontario; brother Tony Steier of Calgary, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Barnabas and Florence Steier; grandson Michael Adam Styre; siblings, Theresa Ball, Isabelle Steier and Joseph Steier; sister-in-law Jeannie Steier. Prayers were held on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan, by Rev. Doug Jeff Jeffrey, OMI and Rev. Joel Rama. Interment followed in Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. Those so wishing may make donations to Estevan Palliative Care, Box 5000-200, 1174 Nicholson Road, Estevan, SK, S4A 2V6 or a charity of choice in Barney's memory. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. Thank You We, the family of Barney Styre would like to thank Dr. Tsoi and the nursing staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for the wonderful care provided to Barney during his illness. Thanks to Rev. Mike Sinclair for his spiritual care and friendship to our family. We would also like to thank Doug Third for officiating at the prayer service, Father Doug Jeffrey (nephew to Barney & Verna) and Father Joel Rama for celebrating the funeral mass. Thanks to the choir for the beautiful music - Barney was so proud to be a part of the choir at St. John the Baptist Church for 62 years. Also, thanks to the CWL ladies for providing the luncheon. Last, but certainly not least, we would like to extend our gratitude to our family and friends for your kind words, prayers, masses, memorial donations, flowers and food.
