Karen Kowalski and Rita Young found an angel (actually, Kowalski created it) at a tea Tuesday afternoon in honour of the Angels Dwell Here exhibition in the Windows Salon of the Chapel Gallery. The gallery members’ show features a variety of media, from acrylic to oil, from watercolour to photography and from fabric to feathers. It’s a theme that is truly open to interpretation, a circumstance the artistic results of the show made clear to visitors who turned out for tea and, later, for an evening reception. Galleries manager Leah Garvin says the show was originally conceived prior to her taking on the galleries manager’s position. Former curator Michael Brokop, who retired in 2012, had undertaken to put it into the program schedule, which is often lined up years in advance. Angels Dwell Here will be on display at the Chapel Gallery at 891 - 99th St. until Feb. 2. Admission to the Chapel Gallery is free, although donations are appreciated. Also on at the Chapel Gallery is a mask and puppetry exhibition featuring creative works from 15 artists and dozens of individual pieces in media such as, clay, wood carvings, steel, glass, fabric, papier-mâché, soapstone and recycled material. The gallery’s winter hours are Wednesday to Sunday from noon until 4 p.m.Photos by Jayne Foster
