The Bonaventure Lions Club recently presented the Battlefords Trade and Education Centre with $965 to put toward its new building fund. Left to right are BTEC program co-ordinator Mona Leece, BTEC participant Alex Heinemann, BTEC chair Julian Stelmaschuk and Bonaventure Lions Gail Morgan and Joyce Ruzesky, co-chairs of the silent auction portion of the 2013 art auction, at which the funds were raised. Next year's event, the 25th Annual Dinner and Art Auction will be held March 7 at the Chapel Gallery. All the proceeds will be used to help BTEC raise the $1.25 million needed to build a new home. With funds from reserves and from fundraising, BTEC is approaching the $400,000 mark. The proposed new facility is to be built along Railway Avenue and will be completely accessible for all the clients' needs. The Bonaventure Lions' art auction showcases local and Saskatchewan artists who, in many instances, donate the total selling price of their art to the chosen charity.Photo by Jayne Foster
