YORKTON — The Yorkton Regional High School Raiders delivered a strong showing at the SHSAA Track and Field Provincial Championships over the weekend of June 7-8.

Performances by the YRHS secured a fifth-place finish in the team standings.

With 29 athletes competing in the orange and brown, the Raiders showcased depth and determination, earning personal bests, podium finishes, and standout performances.

Leading the charge was Grade 11 multi-event athlete Piper Beatty, who claimed gold in the senior girls quadrathlon. She demonstrated her versatility by excelling in the 100-metre sprint, long jump, shot put and 800-metre race.

On the boys’ side, Colby Halliday, a Grade 12 athlete and future University of Regina Cougar, dominated the competition. His strong showing earned him the senior boys aggregate award, recognizing the category’s top point-scorer. He also anchored the silver-medal-winning 4x100m relay team and contributed to a fourth-place finish in the 4x400m relay.

Fellow sprinter Hunter Nagy nearly captured a provincial title, finishing second in the senior boys 100m in a dramatic photo finish. Nagy also played a key role in the silver-medal-winning 4x100m relay team.

For Hadiza Kasim, the championships marked the end of a decorated high school career. The senior finished fourth in the 400m and fifth in the 200m, while anchoring the senior girls 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams, both of which finished fifth overall.
