YORKTON — A Yorkton resident is celebrating a six-figure lottery win thanks to a lucky ticket purchased on the Lotto Spot app.

Ronel Recana won $100,000 on the EXTRA portion of his WESTERN MAX and EXTRA ticket for the March 4 draw.

“I checked the app and thought I had won $10,000 at first, so I showed my wife,” Recana said. “She said, ‘No, it’s $100,000!’”

“I was very excited,” he added. “I couldn’t believe it!”

Recana won the prize by matching the last six digits of the EXTRA number: 1999580.

A regular player, he said the windfall will help fund some home renovations and pay off bills this summer.

“I feel very happy, excited and thankful!” he said.

Sask Lotteries, which distributes proceeds to more than 12,000 sport, culture and recreation groups across Saskatchewan, has been raising funds through lottery sales since 1974.
