Yorkton concert to feature John Williams’ iconic scores

YORKTON – The Yorkton Community Concert Band, under the direction of Larry Pearen, invites you to a spectacular evening of music on Tuesday, May 6th at 7:30 pm at the Anne Portnuff Theatre.

This year’s Spring Concert wraps up an exciting season of rehearsals and performances for the region’s talented community adult musicians. The band proudly features members from across East Central Saskatchewan, including Melville, Esterhazy, Saltcoats, Preeceville, Sturgis, Canora, Kamsack and Yorkton.

The theme for the evening celebrates the legendary John Williams, whose music has brought life to many of Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster films. Highlights include:

  • Raider’s March from Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • Hymn to the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan
  • Harry’s Wondrous World from Harry Potter
  • Theme from Schindler’s List, featuring flute soloist Brooklyn Rae
  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens selections

Also featured are reflective and energetic works by contemporary composers, including Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµern Hymn by Samuel Hazo, Nostalgia by Rossano Galante, and Raging Thunder March by David Shaffer.

Adding to the evening’s excitement, All That Jazz Big Band, directed by Larry Pearen, will take the stage featuring guest vocalist Stephanie Andreas. Stephanie will perform popular favourites such as Perfect by Ed Sheeran, along with big band classics Fever, Can’t Take That Away From Me, Moondance, and Don’t Stop Believing.
