STURGIS — The Sturgis Gateway Co-op's new grocery store is beginning to take shape with the first wall erected on June 4. The store, located on the east outskirts of the Town of Sturgis began construction in the spring and is finally starting to take shape, with the walls expected to be installed over the next several weeks. The refurbished boards were shipped in 6 by 25 feet lengths with Voce Development as the main contractor.

“Once the walls are all put up the rest will fall into place pretty quickly,” said Brad Chambers, Gateway Co-o CEO. “We are excited to see this project become a reality.”

Once the store is completed, it will have double the space capacity and will house a meat cutting department, a full bakery and a liquor department.

“The extra space will offer a better selection of products that will be easily displayed,” said Chambers.
