PRECEEVILLE — The Saskatchewan Health Authority is warning of a potential measles exposure in Preeceville after confirming a case of the highly contagious illness.

Anyone who visited Shop Easy Foods, located at 102 Main Street N, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., may have been exposed. The SHA urges those individuals to monitor for symptoms for up to 21 days following exposure.

Symptoms of measles can include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, fatigue, irritability, small white spots inside the mouth and throat, and a red blotchy rash that starts on the face and spreads down the body. The rash typically develops three to seven days after other symptoms appear and can last four to seven days.

People who were at the location during the identified time and are unvaccinated or showing symptoms are advised to call HealthLine 811 for guidance. Preventative treatment may be available for up to six days after exposure.

The SHA stresses that individuals experiencing symptoms should not attend clinics or emergency departments in person without calling ahead, to minimize the risk of spreading the virus.

Measles is extremely infectious, capable of lingering in the air or on surfaces for up to two hours. It can be transmitted from four days before a rash appears to four days after it develops. During this time, isolation is required to prevent further spread.

Vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent measles. The SHA encourages all residents to ensure their immunizations are up to date. Saskatchewan residents can verify their immunization status through  or by consulting a health-care provider.
