PREECEVILLE — The Gateway Co-op hosted its equity days during the week of June 9 to June 12. The first one was hosted in Buchanan with the proceeds going to the Buchanan Local Library Board on June 9. The second one was held in Sturgis with proceeds from the barbeque allotted to the Sturgis Station House Museum; the third one was held in Canora with proceeds going to the Filling the Gap Food Bank and the last one was held in Preeceville on June 12 with proceeds from the barbeque going towards the Preeceville Community Legion Hall Committee.
Heather Prestie, financial, Andrew Rothnie, food division manager and Brad Chambers, CEO were on hand to distribute equity cheques to patrons.
As a result of our tremendous member support, the Gateway Co-op had another successful year, stated a release. This success has permitted the board of directors to authorize an allocation of $429,088 to its members. Each member is credited with an allocation based on their purchases.
Co-op has donated over $135,000 to local organizations over the past 5 years. Since Fuel Good Day started in 2017, Gateway Co-op has given $33,900 to non-profit organizations. Equity allocations in the past five years totalled over $4,185,690. They have 135 team members that serve the public in five locations across the region. In the past five years Gateway Co-op has invested nearly $32 million in communities by investing in people, facilities and equipment, the company said.
The Sturgis Food Store is currently under construction.
