Letter to the Editor - Legion needs new faces of support

Dear Editor: The Royal Canadian Legion, Gen. Alexander Ross, Branch #77, executive & member, wish to thank everyone that has supported and helped with the 2014 Poppy Campaign and Remembrance Day ceremony at the Flexi Hall.

Dear Editor:

The Royal Canadian Legion, Gen. Alexander Ross, Branch #77, executive & member, wish to thank everyone that has supported and helped with the 2014 Poppy Campaign and Remembrance Day ceremony at the Flexi Hall. Thank you to the City of Yorkton for allowing us use of this facility.

For those of you who were unable to attend our Remembrance Day, we had two students from Sacred Heart High School, Kennedy Gagne and Caleb Sutter, deliver the message of Remembrance.

Last April, both Kennedy & Caleb were part of the Organized Sacred Heart High School tours, that visited the Battlefields of WWI & WWII in Europe.

Their message of Remembrance was very meaningful and well delivered. I would like to share their speeches with you, (see page B4 in today's newspaper.

At the Remembrance Day Ceremony, the names of the Veterans, who passed on since last Remembrance Day, were read. WWII Veterans that are still with us, were recognized and received certificates & pins from the Federal Government. These Veterans have volunteered and contributed so much to keep the principals and objectives of Legion alive and functioning.

Volunteerism is what the Legion is all about. We all know what happens when we run out of volunteers!!

The facts is we need the next generations to step up and volunteer to take torch from the failing hands and carry on:

There will be an open house meeting at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #77, 380 West Broadway, Yorkton at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014. Everyone is welcome to come and find out more about the principals and objectives of the Legion. Also you might want to join and Volunteer
