Togo Terriers were to play first home hockey game in 20 years

Saturday was to be the first time in 20 years that the Togo Terriers senior recreation hockey team played a game on home ice.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Saturday was to be the first time in 20 years that the Togo Terriers senior recreation hockey team played a game on home ice.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Terriers, who use the Broda Sportsplex in Kamsack when the natural ice in the Togo arena is not ready, suit up to play once a week, usually Fridays, but on Saturday the Canora Flames were to be in Togo for the game, William Harper, a team member who helps organize the team with Shaun Lawless, said last week.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The team is also scheduled to play a Calder team in Togo on January 21, and another team on January 25.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Terriers, which had won a recreation hockey tournament in Langenburg last March, usually hosts a tournament in Kamsack at the end of March, Harper said.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On the Terriers鈥 roster are several players who live in the Togo area and who were once members of the Kamsack Flyers senior hockey team,

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淥ur season record to date is nine wins and four losses,鈥 he said. The team plays teams from Norquay, Roblin, Churchbridge, Esterhazy, Springside, Langenburg, Kamsack, Canora and MacNutt.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e keep the competition out of the games. They鈥檙e for fun. That鈥檚 better,鈥 he said.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The kitchen in the rink was to be open for the game and on the menu was chicken wings,鈥 said Amanda Burback.聽
