聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Kamsack Comprehensive Institute junior Spartan football team ended the season with another win, which gave the team a record of three wins and only one loss.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The junior Spartans hosted the Wakaw Warriors on October 19 and defeated them 24-19.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淥ur defense did a very good job communicating with each other and swarming the ball,鈥� said Tyler Lorenzo, the coach. 鈥淭here has been a huge improvement in tackling ability with our athletes since the start of the year.
鈥淥ffensively, this was our most complete game,鈥� Lorenzo said. 鈥淥ur offensive line did a tremendous job blocking, which made it easier for us to run and pass the ball.
鈥淲e did all the little things right as well, including carrying out necessary fakes for distractions and blocking downfield.鈥�
Repeating that the athletes finished the year with three wins and one loss, Lorenzo said he was extremely proud of the team, which had suffered its only loss of the season by Preeceville which outscored the Spartans 36-21.
Last week鈥檚 game was a really good game that came down to a huge defensive stop on the last play, he said. 鈥淚 feel like this was our most complete game on both sides of the ball.
鈥淚 am really happy with how far our team has come this season. We have been making really good decisions and reads which make our offense unpredictable.
鈥淲hen we are firing on all four cylinders by following the plays down to every last detail, we are a very tough team to beat,鈥� he said. 鈥淭he players have bought into a completely revamped, complicated, offensive system which is designed to have extra blockers where we are running to, and to mislead the offensive.
鈥淢ost of our plays start out in a very similar fashion. Our defensive system is also new and complicated which took some adjusting but it is paying off. It is all about execution, which by the end of the year, we were doing very well on both sides of the ball.
鈥淲e had a balanced attack for most of the game,鈥� Lorenzo said. 鈥淚 was finally happy about our passing game with big completions being made by Kayden Aker from passes by Curtis McGriskin. 鈥淲e are a power running team, but now have the ability to surprise some defense with passing.鈥�
