Derek Kruk rink of Arran tops the Arran Open Bonspiel

The Derek Kruk rink of Arran won the A event of the 18-team Arran Annual Open Mixed Bonspiel held January 22 to 29. Curling with Kruk, the skip, were: Kirk Lylyk, lead; Joe Makohoniuk, third, and Vaughn Demetrick, second.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Curling with Kruk, the skip, were: Kirk Lylyk, lead; Joe Makohoniuk, third, and Vaughn Demetrick, second.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Placing second, third and fourth respectively in the A event were: the Wes Lylyk of Arran, the Kade Trofimenkoff rink of Kamsack and the Lionel Hanson rink of Swan River.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Valley River Rats of Norquay won the B event. On the team were: Darrin Jacquemart, lead; Kelly Butterfield, third; Richard Johnson, second, and John Knutson, skip.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Bowdrie Northrope rink of Norquay placed second in the B event; the Stech Construction rink of Benito was third, and the Mark Kerr rink of Benito, fourth.

The Rubyanne Kluk rink of Benito and Norquay topped the C event. On the team were: Rubyanne Kluk, lead; Kristen Harness, third; Evan Rostoski, second, and Ken Newell, skip.

The Brad Knutson rink of Norquay was second in the C event; the Rick Kinaschuk rink of Benito was third, and the Zack Newell rink of Norquay was fourth.

The two winners of the 50/50 draw were: Kyla Kluk of Benito, who took home $235, and Kristen Harness of Benioto, $255.

A group of Arran women catered the banquet on the Friday night.
