Cote Chiefs defeat Canora Atom Red Cobras in overtime

The Cote Atom Chiefs hockey team defeated the Canora Atom Red Cobras in overtime play during a playoff league game in Canora on February 17.

The Cote Atom Chiefs hockey team defeated the Canora Atom Red Cobras in overtime play during a playoff league game in Canora on February 17.

The Cote Chiefs scored the first goal of the game, but by the end of the first period Nate Wolos had scored two goals unassisted for the Cobras, said Tracey Bletsky, a member of the Cobras’ executive committee.

The second period remained the same without any goals scored.

In the third period the Cote Chiefs tied the game and it was a very back-and-forth game with Cote Chiefs incurring five penalties throughout the game, Bletsky said.

Because it was a playoff game, and a tie score, it was set for overtime in a 10-minute sudden death round, she said. The Cote Chiefs scored the third goal just a few minutes into the overtime.

The Atom Red Cobras were to play in Kamsack on Tuesday in Kamsack and had two more games in March to end the playoff season.
