Town Council discusses changes to a Railway Avenue property

Changes to a property on Railway Avenue and training for town employees were among the items of concern to town council at its regular meeting on November 6.        

Cory O’Dell met with council to discuss street lighting, access, snow removal and the construction of a fence at his property on Railway Avenue.

On the motion to require O’Dell to erect a fence along the entire south side of his Railway Avenue property, Councillor Pelechaty requested a recorded vote.

Voting for the motion were: Councillors Pelechaty, Gabora and Trofimenkoff; against: Councillors Trask and Sweeney. The motion was carried.

Council authorized Darcy Rewakowsky, water treatment plant operator, Sheldon Danyluk, Labourer II and Roger Sabiston and Kevin Malanchuk, Labourers I to attend Fall Prevention training at Parkland College.

Council authorized Eric Boychuk, Labourer I to attend Class 2 Water Treatment and Distribution training to be held May 13 to 17, 2019 at Parkland College in Yorkton.

Council tabled the request of St. Joseph’s RC Parish for designatedhandicapped parking on Fourth Avenue East.

Council acknowledged the Canora Rural Public Utility Board’s notice of intent to renew the Agreement to Provide Water Service for a five-year            term, beginning November 19, 2019.

Council extended the deadline of the order to remedy issued to Beckerland Farms Inc. to December 31; requiring the removal of accessory buildings or the issuance of required building permits.

Council approved the following non-profit museum grants for 2018: $2,500 to the Canora Ukrainian Heritage Museum and $1,000 to Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity.
