Canora Composite School was the site of the Parkland Music Festival Showcase Concert on April 6.
Gillian Rice, corresponding secretary for the festival, opened the evening by congratulating festival participants for their fine performances.
“The festival is all about the love of music and we have been treated to a week of wonderful performances.â€
Rice explained that the performances on the program for the evening were recommended by the adjudicator and the scholarship committee.
The scholarship winners were chosen by the adjudicator and the scholarship committee.
Kennedy Kosheluk of Preeceville received piano scholarships sponsored by Canora Wheatland Lioness, Canora Credit Union, the Town of Kamsack, and Gateway Co-op. Kosheluk was recommended by the adjudicator to compete in three classes in the provincial festival.
Chelte Young of Yorkton won piano scholarships sponsored by La Campagna Bend and Breakfast and by Leanne Buchinski, and received a recommendation by the adjudicator to compete in one class in the provincial festival.
River Crane of Canora won a Ludba Construction scholarship for voice.
Sarah Lukey and Kylie Morin of Norquay, Chavah Ogden of Invermay and Trenley Nelson of Preeceville each received piano scholarships sponsored by Leson’s Funeral Home.
Bethany Ogden of Invermay and Hannelle Sevilla of Yorkton each received piano scholarships sponsored by Canora Music Society.
Charlie Sharko of Canora and Lily Kish of Norquay each received Crop Production Services piano scholarships.
Maison Davis of Kamsack and Drea Beblow of Canora each received piano scholarships sponsored by Laura Tiechroeb.

Emanuella Ogden of Invermay won a National Gallery of Saskatchewan scholarship for piano.
Willow Davis of Kamsack received a piano scholarship from Canora Bike Repair.
Elisabeth Ashley of Kamsack received scholarships for voice from the Canora Sewing Shop and Homestead Glass and Lock.
Canora Wheatland Lioness scholarships for speech arts were awarded to Olivia and Margaret Ivanochko from Preeceville.
Shalaine Kelly was the emcee for the concert and introduced the performers.
Ivan Fidek of Invermay played So Many Paths in the Woods That Cross and won the Rice Construction Ltd. scholarship for piano.
Faith Fidek of Invermay won piano scholarships sponsored by the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League and Crop Production Services, and played The War Memorial.
Erika Sweeney of Canora played Angelfish on piano, and was presented with the Crossroads Credit Union and the Rice Construction Ltd. scholarships for piano, as well as two Canora Music Society scholarships for voice.
Peter Michl of Canora played Dance of the Aborigines on piano and received a Grandpa’s Garden and Greenhouse piano scholarship.
Elizabeth Ivanochko of Preeceville won the Beta Sigma Phi scholarship for speech arts and performed The Little Turtle.
Cayden, Natalia and Jhett Kelly of Canora performed the piano trio Agent 003. Cayden won the Gabano’s scholarship for piano. Natalia was awarded the Beta Sigma Phi piano scholarship, as well as the Canora Music Society and the Homestead Glass and Lock scholarships for voice. Jhett won a Grandpa’s Garden and Greenhouse piano scholarship.
Emma and Bella Mykytyshyn of Canora played the piano duet Spanish Tornado and received a piano scholarship from My Spray Therapeutics.
Mikayla Tratch of Canora performed Butterflies as a vocal solo and received a scholarship for voice from Eighty-Eight Keys Music Studio.
Sophia Stiles of Canora performed Old MacDonald Had a Farm on piano and won the Canora Wheatland Lioness piano scholarship.
Jordan Makowsky received piano scholarships sponsored by the Town of Canora and Homestead Glass and Lock and played The Duke of Oil.
Hannah Kidder of Preeceville received the Town of Kamsack band scholarship and performed Jar of Hearts on saxophone.
Cassandra Danyluk of Canora played The Swan on saxophone and received the Town of Kamsack scholarship for voice.
Echo Kozmanuik of Canora sang Piece by Piece, and received a vocal scholarship sponsored by Canora Wheatland Lioness.
Melody Michl of Canora won piano scholarships sponsored by 88 Keys Music Studio and by Bob’s Kabober’s, and performed Humbug’s Hoedown.
Hailey Sharko of Canora played The Duke of Oil on piano and won piano scholarships sponsored by the Town of Canora, Canora Equipment Rentals and IC Sales. She also won a Grandpa’s Garden and Greenhouse scholarship for voice.
Irena Yannoulis of Canora performed the vocal solo I Whistle a Happy Tune and received a Town of Kamsack scholarship for voice.

The winner of the raffle of a flower arrangement, donated by Carnation Street, was Julia Westerman. The money raised in the raffle went to Payton Hudye, a student of Rice’s who is battling cancer.
