Although the crowd was not large, those who attended the New Year’s Eve benefit at Kamsack enjoyed themselves, according to information from organizers.

The benefit function was held at the OCC Hall in Kamsack on December 31 in support of the family of Zarah Gouge, the 16-month-old daughter of Britney Durell and Richard Gouge of Kamsack. She had been diagnosed in October with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and is undergoing treatments in hospital in Saskatoon.

Because Zarah was not undergoing chemotherapy for a while over the Christmas period, she and her parents were able to attend the benefit.

“It was nice to see everyone come out,” Britney said last week, adding that aside from about a week in Kamsack, she and Richard have both been staying in Saskatoon with their children since Zarah had begun her treatments.

“Richard and Britney and their families would like to send out a big thank you to the people who helped support us through this difficult journey and we thank all the sponsors who donated and those who came out,” said information from the organizers of the event.

The winner of the event’s WestJet tickets was Brooke Johnston, the information said.
