The fifth annual Mass for the Unborn was held on August 20 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto in Rama, said Mary Kowalyshen of Rama.
The rosary was led by the Knights of Columbus before mass.
Rev. Marcin Mironiuk, OMI, delivered a dynamic homily on the topic of pro-life emphasizing that abortion stops a beating heart, said Kowalyshen. Rev. Annadan of India con-celebrated with Rev. Marcin.
Following the mass everyone was given a white rose to place at the statue of St. Gianna Beretta Molla, the pro-life saint.
Then all proceeded to the parish hall for a luncheon. A video was shown on the life of St. Gianna Beretta Molla.
Special appreciation was expressed to Marie Broda of Kamsack and her late husband Casimir Broda for initiating the pro-life area at St. Anthony's RC Church in 2012.
Two other saints were added to this area this year, St. Mother Teresa and St. John Paul II. All three statues were made in Ortisei, Italy by artists and craftsmen from the world-renowned Ferdinand Stuflesser studio.
In addition, St. Anthony's also received a first-class relic of St. John Paul II from Cardinal Stanilaus Dzwicz of Krakow, Poland. Cardinal Dzwicz was Pope John Paul's private secretary for over 40 years.
The relic is a drop of his blood that was taken prior to his death.
