SASKATOON — All public-facing services at Saskatoon City Hall will be closing 30 minutes early Monday, Sept. 20, to give employees the chance to vote in the federal election.
Employers must allow employees three consecutive hours to vote once polls open, as stated in the Canada Elections Act. Voting is from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Customers can drop their cheques after hours in a secure payment drop box that will be outside the front doors at the City Hall entrance on 3rd Avenue North.
Residents can ride On-Demand Transit, Access Transit and fixed-route transit for free Monday.
The free pass can be accessed on SaskatoonTransit.ca where residents can download or print it. The free passes can also be picked up at the Transit Customer Service Centre, Saskatoon Public Library, City Hall or the Civic Leisure Centre.
Those using the free one-day pass will just need to show it to the operator once they enter the vehicle. The pass can be displayed, if downloaded, on a mobile phone. Children can travel with parents who show the pass.
One must pay the fare if one fails to show a pass, which is only valid for the day and can be used multiple times on all routes. The free pass expires at the end of the service.
