Grace Chase of Canora celebrated her 100th birthday on January 20 with family members at her Park Place residence in Canora.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý   But one party apparently wasn’t enough because the next day she held another birthday party where fellow Park Place residents were invited.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÂ Â Â Chase was excited to receive birthday greetings from Queen Elizabeth II, Governor General Julie Payette, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Premier Brad Wall.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÂ Â Â Grace Evelyn Chase was born in 1918, about 10 miles north of Stenen to Floyd and Hazel Washburn (nee Claypool), the eldest of eight children. After attending Ormsby School to Grade 8, she married Fred Chase in 1936. He passed away in 1969.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÂ Â Â They raised four children: Dennis (Helen), Shirley (Ken MacNaughton), Linda (Richard Hamilton) and Ronnie (Lorane).
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÂ Â Â Chase enjoys spending time with her 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÂ Â Â Her second marriage was to Merle Tanton, who died in 1988.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÂ Â Â She initially retired to Sturgis, before moving to her present residence in Canora, where she remains quite active.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÂ Â Â Her favourite activities include baking bread, tending to her vegetables and flowers on her patio in summer, reading, playing cards, checking Facebook and receiving emails, and watching TV (she never misses an episode of Judge Judy).ÌýÌýÌýÌý
