MWO Keenan Rehaluk (master warrant officer) has retired after 23 plus years of “loyal and dedicated service” to the Canadian Armed Forces.
Born and raised in Canora, Rehalukenrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in October 1993. Following his basic training and infantry qualification, he was posted to the Special Service Force in Petawawa Ont. He was a member of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, said information from his family.
From 1994 to 2002 he fulfilled many positions within the battalion and completed various courses which included paratrooper and leadership qualifications. He had several operational tours and was deployed to Bosnia and Kosovo.
Rehaluktransferred to the ammunition technician trade in April 2002 and on completion of his training in CFB Borden Ont. was posted back to Petawawa, to 2 Service Battalion. During his tenure there he deployed to Bosnia and Afghanistan and also completed several specialty courses which included United States Navy explosive ordinance disposal qualification.
In 2008 Rehaluk was posted to Shilo Man. where he met Julie, the love of his life and future wife, the information said.
He was selected to attend a biological chemical munition disposal course in Kineton, England. He jumped at the opportunity for the exchange officer position at the Explosive Ordinance Disposal School (EOD) in the UK, where he was promoted to warrant officer in June 2011.
In 2013 Rehaluk was posted back to Canada with the Canadian Material Support Group in Ottawa. In 2016 he was posted to Borden as the explosive training cadre sergeant major and a chief instructor of the ammunition training establishment.
Keenan, his wife Julie with their children Sophie and Zara will be moving back to Ottawa where Keenan has accepted a position as an advisor for the Canadian government in the ammunition field.
There was a retirement luncheon held on April 21 at CFB Borden for Keenan. His parents Bill and Ella Rehaluk, along with his sister Colleen and brother-in-law John from High River, Alta., attended the farewell event.
