Yorkton,Β  December 1 – The Yorkton Lions presented presented a cheque for $10,000 to Ross Fisher, Executive Director, of The Health Foundation, to assist with purchasing a new CT scanner. The cheque was presented at the Yorkton Lions annual Christmas party. Β

β€œWe decided to support the CT scanner fundraising campaign because it is really clear that a new CT scan will have benefit to everyone in this region, said Todd Allen, President of the Yorkton Lions.Β  We are a service club, and we exist to provide an opportunity for our members to socialize but also to help make our community a better place to live. Generally we do that by raising funds and contributing to projects in the community that will help people or improve recreation opportunities.

β€œWe have a strong relationship with The Health Foundation and have donated to most of theirΒ  projects, including $10,000 last year to help buy the new bus for the residents of the Yorkton and District Nursing home,” continued Mr. Allan.Β  We support a lot of organizations in the community in addition to The Health Foundation, and do so every year. As Lions we have a lot of fun working together and raising money; I think people would find it very rewarding to join the Yorkton Lions; they would have fun and make a difference in their community. β€œ

β€œThe Yorkton Lions have been absolutely great to work with,” said Ross Fisher, Executive Director of The Health Foundation. They have supported most of our fundraising projects, but they have supported all of the projects that are really vital and affect a lot of people in the area.

This is a large and very generous donation and comes at a great time as we are trying to finish our fundraising for the CT. The support we receive from community organizations throughout the health region is essential to our work,” continued Mr. Fisher.
