A woman with multiple charges in several jurisdictions was denied bail at a show cause hearing in the Yorkton Provincial Court last Friday.
Stephanie Delnea is facing 24 charges, including assault, operation while impaired, and fraud. She incurred these charges in Kamsack, Regina, and other locations.
Her defense attorney requested she be released on bail. Her father was at the hearing and the attorney said he was willing to post $500 for her release.
The judge for the case said he appreciated that Delnea鈥檚 father was present.
鈥淵ou鈥檙e lucky,鈥 he told her.
Ultimately, the judge denied Delnea鈥檚 request, stating that since she has failed to appear in court on five different occasions, he can鈥檛 be certain she鈥檒l return if let go.
鈥淚 can鈥檛 release you,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a no-brainer.鈥
鈥淚鈥檓 not a runner,鈥 Delnea said.
The judge set Delnea鈥檚 case over to Feb. 26 in Melville.
鈥淵ou鈥檝e got to figure this out,鈥 he said. 鈥淕ood luck.鈥
