Walk and Roll Day Wednesday

Walk, run, bike, rollerblade and skateboard to school and work

The first Wednesday in June has become Walk and Roll Day at Yorkton Regional High School for a number of years.

The day encourages people in Yorkton and across the province to walk, run, bike, rollerblade and skateboard to school and work on 'Walk and Roll' day.

The day focuses on the importance of children and youth engaging in activities that contribute to healthy, active lifestyles.

Yorkton Regional High School developed the day in 2006 to promote physical activity in the community.

A discussion between Physical Education teacher and Student Representative Council Co-ordinator Roby Sharpe and his colleagues sparked the start of 鈥淲alk and Roll鈥 day.听The teachers agreed that students would benefit from walking or riding their bikes to school, instead of always driving their motor vehicles.
