The Yorkton-Melville riding will be represented in the Official Opposition shadow cabinet of interim Conservative leader Rona Ambrose.
Cathay Wagantall, who won the constituency handily in last month鈥檚 general election will serve as deputy critic for Veterans Affairs.
Ambrose made the appointment Friday when she unveiled the 32-member shadow cabinet.
鈥淚 am honoured to be given this responsibility by our leader, and I look forward to working with my colleague, Veterans Affairs Critic, MP Alupa Clarke,鈥� Wagantall said. 鈥淭ogether, we will hold the government鈥檚 feet to the fire on all issues affecting Canada鈥檚 Veterans.鈥�
Like Wagantall, Clarke is a first time MP, who represents the riding of Beauport-Limoilou, a Quebec City riding. The 29-year-old defeated the NDP incumbent Raymond Cot茅 by approximately 2,600 votes. It was one of the few pickups for the Conservatives in the Liberal juggernaut that swept the country October 19.
Wagantall was last in the riding two weeks ago. While here she attended the Royal Canadian Legion鈥檚 Remembrance Day banquet November 11.
