From June 1鈥�30, 2015 Creative Saskatchewan hosted an exhibition, Canadian Indigenous Contemporary Art From Saskatchewan 鈥榯he Prairie Province鈥�, in London, England. The exhibition was created in partnership with CS Redlick, a London fine art broker with roots in Saskatchewan.
The first show to feature contemporary Saskatchewan Indigenous Art in London; the exhibition featured 42 works by five Saskatchewan artists: Adrian Stimson, Leah Dorian, Allen Sapp, Michel Boutin, and David Garneau.
The exhibition began with a successful opening night June 1st, with over 100 attendees including art market professionals, and art collectors.
Two private viewings were hosted during the month, one for museum professionals and one for University of Saskatchewan Alumni.
Paintings by artists Leah Dorian, Allen Sapp and Adrian Stimson were sold to international collectors.
The most notable sale of the exhibition is the sale of 鈥淓vent II鈥�, by Adrian Stimson, to the British Museum. 鈥淓vent II鈥� is an oil and graphite work in a series of three works all dated 2015, depicting bison on the plains of Saskatchewan juxtaposed against an oil pump jack, in monochrome. The purchase of this piece makes Adrian A. Stimson the first contemporary Saskatchewan artist to have work in the British Museum.
The piece will be in the Native North American Department鈥檚 permanent collection.
