After a hard fought one-point comeback victory this past Friday night, the Yorkton Regional girls senior basketball team fell on hard times Saturday to come away with a 1-2 record at the Melfort Invitational Tournament, said coach Tony Hayden.

Led by Kaylynn Boyda's 13 points and strong rebounding by Raelene Nagy and Robin Bendfeld, the YRHS squad beat the host Melfort squad, 41-40.

The win matched the Lady Raiders with the Carlton Crusaders.

A sputtering offence which netted just 23 points, turned out to be the team's downfall, despite a strong defensive effort.

Brandey Blahut's eight points, was the top individual scoring effort in a 42-23 loss.

The third place game saw the orange girls pitted against one of the premier 1A programs in the province from Kinistino.

Nagy dominated on the boards with 18, to go along with 10 points as the Blues strong offensive game gave them a 63-41 win.

The Raiders now go into the Christmas break with a 3-3 record.
