The number of people speeding through photo speed enforcement locations in the province has decreased month over month.

鈥淧hoto speed enforcement has been proven to calm traffic and while it鈥檚 still early days, we鈥檙e seeing a positive effect in Saskatchewan鈥檚 photo speed enforced locations after only two months of the pilot,鈥 Minister responsible for SGI Don McMorris said. 鈥淔inal January results are in and it鈥檚 encouraging to see more drivers respecting speed limits. We are hopeful these results will continue as awareness increases.鈥

When comparing the number of violations (per day) in December to January, results show a significant decrease. Highlights include:

鈥33 per cent average decrease at high-speed locations

鈥64 per cent average decrease at school zone locations

鈥reatest decrease at a high-speed location was 64 per cent (at Highway 1 east)

鈥reatest decrease at a school zone location was 78 per cent (in Saskatoon)

Photo speed enforcement is being piloted at the following locations around the province:

鈥askatoon locations 鈥 Circle Drive and select school zones

鈥egina locations 鈥 Ring Road and select school zones

鈥oose Jaw locations 鈥 Highway 1 and 9th Avenue intersection and select school zones

鈥ighway 1 east between the Pilot Butte turnoff and White City

鈥ighway 12 near Martensville

Warning letters are being issued to those speeding at these locations until ticketing begins on March 8, 2015.聽 Photo speed enforced zones are clearly marked with signs.
