The Saskatchewan Housing Corporation has announced a $1.7 million family housing project for Yorkton.

Three new duplex homes (six rental units total) will be constructed on 7th Avenue North by the summer of 2012.

Although it is being promoted as a "Métis family housing project" for the city, officials with the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation say that the new units will have no race requirements for tenancy. Applications will be open to all families with an income below $52,000 per year.

The new rental units will be managed by the Yorkton Housing Authority. Rent will be fixed at "the lower end" of market rates.
