The new year wasn鈥檛 even a full day old when Kevin Tank and Kelly Klus discovered a $1 million lottery win. The couple won on their Western Million Scratch 鈥榥 Win ticket, one of 10 games in their $20 Player鈥檚 Choice Mega Pack.
Tank and Klus uncovered the windfall while they settled in for the evening on January 1. Klus started scratching lottery tickets while Tank chose a movie. When she got to the Western Million ticket, she saw something she鈥檇 never seen before.
鈥淚 saw three $1 million prize amounts,鈥� she said. 鈥淚 asked Kevin how many you need to match to win the prize. He told me three, and I froze.鈥�
Tank took a look at the ticket and he had a similar reaction.
鈥淢y jaw dropped,鈥� he said. 鈥淲e couldn鈥檛 believe we had just won a million dollars!鈥�
鈥淲e spent most of the night pacing around the house, staring at the ticket,鈥� said Tank. 鈥淲e tried to go to bed, but we finally ended up driving to the store to confirm it. We had to make sure we weren鈥檛 fooling ourselves.鈥�
The happy couple said they plan to put some money away for a comfortable retirement, but they also plan to enjoy some of their good fortune now.
鈥淲e鈥檙e going to cross a few things off our bucket list,鈥� said Tank. 鈥淲e want a Fiat Spider, and we want to travel more.鈥�
Klus agreed, especially with the travel plans.
鈥淭he first thing I said to Kevin was, 鈥楴ew York City, here I come!鈥欌�� she said.
Tank purchased the winning Player鈥檚 Choice Mega Pack at Prairie Co-operative Ltd., located at 200 Bailey Drive in Melville.
