The Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan is formally announcing they will be hosting a leadership convention on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
鈥淎fter leading the party for over twelve years, I have decided it is time for new leadership to take over and take us to the next level,鈥� said PC Party leader Rick Swenson. 鈥淚 have notified our party鈥檚 executive that I would be resigning as leader immediately following the election of a new leader on November third.鈥�
鈥淭he PC Party of Saskatchewan owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to Rick for all that he has done for us,鈥� said PC Party president Grant Schmidt. 鈥淚n the near future, details of the leadership contest for the PC Party race will be finalized and posted on our website.鈥�
The political landscape of Saskatchewan is changing rapidly, and Schmidt says his party and its membership are excited that the PC Party will play a role in the province鈥檚 political renewal.
鈥淚n the months leading up to the November convention we will continue to tackle important issues like our ballooning debt, an ongoing grain transportation crisis, issues of public safety, and potential criminal charges in the RCMP鈥檚 investigation into the Sask Party鈥檚 GTH scandal,鈥� said Swenson. 鈥淚 look forward to supporting our leadership candidates with their ideas to help solve these issues, while sharing our party鈥檚 dynamic vision for the future of Saskatchewan.鈥�
Swenson is extremely proud of the fact that it has been the PC Party of Saskatchewan leading the fight on many of these issues, and says his party鈥檚 hard work and perseverance has set the stage for a new journey on the road to once again governing the province.
