Halloween can be about more than wearing costumes and gathering bags of candy.
For the third year, a group in Yorkton is using the night of fright to help ensure the local Salvation Army Food Bank will have full shelves as they undertake their 鈥楬unger is Scary Food Drive.鈥
The volunteer group collect non-perishable food items for the Food Bank, canvassing on Halloween night, collecting non-perishable food items rather than the traditional candy.
They 鈥渃hose Halloween because people are generally more accepting of people coming to their door asking for food,鈥 stated the group鈥檚 Facebook page.
The group hopes to have enough volunteers to eventually be able to canvass the whole city in one night.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Family Worship Center at 491 Broadway St. E., the Good Earth鈥檚 Shop at 385 Broadway St. E., or the Bank of Montreal.
