Expanded hours, new guided tours and exciting programs - Government House is the place to be this summer.

听

鈥淕overnment House is an integral part of Saskatchewan and Canada鈥檚 history and these new tours and programs truly make that history come to life,鈥� Minister Responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission Ken Cheveldayoff said.听 鈥淭here are activities for everyone, from the young to the young at heart.听 I encourage all residents of and visitors to Saskatchewan to visit and learn more about this National Historic Site.鈥�

Government House will switch to its summer hours as of Monday, May 20.听 Until Labour Day, Government House will be open seven days a week, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.听 With the expanded hours come a variety of new things to do and see.

The Edwardian Gardens at Government House are one of Regina鈥檚 best kept secrets.听 Get in on the secret by joining a guided tour of the gardens.听 Learn about the history of the grounds every Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. or expand your knowledge of plant and wildlife ecology every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.

听

There are also a variety of special garden tours happening throughout the summer, including the ever-popular 鈥淣ot Who, but Watt鈥� tour on June 29, July 27 and August 25, the 鈥淪ecrets of Government House鈥� tour on August 17 and many more.

听

Beyond the tours, Government House鈥檚 Edwardian Gardens are the perfect place to relax in the summer.听 Bring a book and relax under a beautiful elm tree.听 Invite some friends to go for a walk 鈥� ensure that furry friends stay on a leash!听 Or, enjoy a picnic on the manicured lawns.

听

Starting June 15, Government House鈥檚 Vice Regal Coffee Bar will be offering a build-your-own 鈥淧rairie Picnic Basket鈥� for guests to pick up and enjoy with no need to order ahead.听 Inside, step back in time with the Am茅d茅e Forget Museum.听 Hourly guided tours will be led by colourful characters from Government House鈥檚 past.听 Get hands-on with artifacts through the Junior Conservator Pop-Up Programming, and children aged four through 10 can learn through play with the monthly Government (Club) House program.
