A 27-year-old Yorkton man who had been serving an 18-month conditional sentence in the city for motor vehicle theft is now serving his time in jail.
Wesley Joseph Jerome was convicted January 6 on two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, theft under $5,000 and fraud.
The Court imposed the 18-month conditional sentence with electronic monitoring, but on January 21, Jerome cut off his ankle bracelet and fled Yorkton on his snowmobile.
On January 23, a family member reported Jerome missing and tipped police that he was likely in the Roblin area.
That is where RCMP found him on February 2. He appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court February 3 where a judge cancelled his conditional sentence order and sent him to prison to serve the remainder of his 18 months.
