Drama festival

The Saskatchewan Drama Association (SDA) 2016 Region 4 High School Drama Festival will be held March 17-19, Thursday to Saturday, in the Performing Arts Theatre at Sacred Heart High School.

The Saskatchewan Drama Association (SDA) 2016 Region 4 High School Drama Festival will be held March 17-19, Thursday to Saturday, in the Performing Arts Theatre at Sacred Heart High School. The Region 4 Drama Festival is a competition between high schools in the Yorkton area. Competing schools perform one act plays, and an adjudicator will select one play as Best Overall Production. The winning play advances to represent Region 4 at the SDA Provincial High School Drama Festival at the University of Regina in May.  Region 4 is one of 12 festival regions in the province.

Performances of the plays are open to the general public. There are four sessions of plays, and admission is $5 per session or $15 for a four session pass. All plays are performed at the Sacred Heart High School Performing Arts Theatre. The complete festival performance schedule is as follows:

•New Canadian Kid, a drama performed by Sacred Heart High School

•Spoiler Alert, a comedy performed by Yorkton Regional High School

•Mmmbeth, a comedy performed by Langenburg High School

Friday, March 18,
1:00 p.m.


•A Nose for the News, a comedy performed by Kamsack Comprehensive

•Drama Geeks, a comedy performed by Yorkton Regional High School

Friday, March 18,
7:00 p.m.


•Too Many Doctors, a comedy performed by Sacred Heart High School

•Oddball, a comedy performed by Esterhazy High School

Saturday, March 19,
1:00 p.m.


•Superheroes, a comedy performed by Norquay School

•Parents Just Don’t Understand, a comedy performed by Sacred Heart High School

Sacred Heart High School will also be performing its three plays at the Drama Club’s annual Dessert Theatre on Tuesday, March 15, at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $10 per ticket and includes complimentary dessert and beverage at intermission.  Tickets are available in advance at the School Office.
